Pesticides Found in Pregnant Women
Researchers have found the presence of numerous harmful pesticides in the placentas of pregnant women.
According to a study by the University of Granada, fifteen different substances linked to pesticides have been found in pregnant women. Additionally, 100% of the women involved in the study had contamination with an average of 8 pesticides in their placentas during pregnancy. Researchers say these organochlorine substances may be potentially harmful to genitor-urinary development.

Now, new research in the February issue of Environmental Health Perspectives shows long-term exposure to air pollution may lead to the development of atherosclerosis. This is where fatty deposits form in the artery walls, causing them to thicken, harden, and block off blood flow.

For a pregnant woman, perhaps the city is not the best place to be.
A new National Institutes of Health study shows the polluted air in the inner city is definitely affecting unborn babies, causing DNA damage while they are still in the womb. Previous studies done on rats have shown that upon exposure to certain pollutants, the type commonly found in the air of inner cities, the fetus is more susceptible to the cancer causing effects than the adult rat.
